Dirty Fashion : Ashanti & new Music Video

Hey Ashanti, I see you! I must say I am enjoying these new found spring colours this year - pastels. On that note, the 'Woman You Love' songstress was at Power 99 for start her promotion rounds yesterday morning.

I guess because I (up in Canada...well Toronto anyways) am excited about summer with all this unusually warm weather these last couple of weeks, I can really appreciate this look. What I DO NOT appreciate is the fact that everyone feels compelled to wear those Red Bottoms. Don't get me wrong, they are lovely shoes and definately a statement shoe at its best, but ladies, we are blessed to have many talented designers who provide quality shoes of different shape, cut, colour, and/or price as well! Just saying...

I'm happy to say Ashanti has finally dropped her new video for her single 'Woman You Love'. She spoke to Philadelphia's Power 99 about turning down SEVEN offers from major record labels and launching her own record label called Written Entertainment (now that's bossy!) and what inspired her to title her album 'BraveHeart'. Ashanti explained the motive behind titling her album:

“The metaphor that I took was basically in the movie you have the Europeans, you have the soliders from London and the U.K.,” she said. “They have the big horses, they have the shields, the guns, the weapons… They’re all armored up. And then you have the Scots. They’re all raggedy, homemade weapons, and paint on their faces. It’s not an even playing ground, so I feel like with the [major labels], they’re bossed up. They have the big engine and all the artists signed to them and with the indies, it’s depending. It’s homemade, it’s homegrown. It’s a lesser engine. So the metaphor I was using was being brave and putting your blood and guts into it and fighting passionately to win.”

Ashanti has always been an artist to put 100% into her work. Kudos to her!

Dirty Fashion: Rihanna shows off her goods

Hide your husband, hide your kids! Rihanna's chest is out! You got to hand it to her, Rihanna definitely a risk taker when it comes to fashion. The 'Talk That Talk' singer was seen arriving to dinner at De Silvano in NYC with a piece of mesh covering her chest. This chick does not care what you think, what your friends think, or how cold she is! Peep the pictures below (slight nudity, beware!)

Now others call it a cry for attention but I don't see why she would need that seeing the fact she has endless number one hits and consistent sold out shows. If you have something to say about Rihanna please explain to me wth Adrienne Bailon has aside from the Cheetah Girls and 3LW? I just simply call it not giving a f*ck. Simple.

Dirty Fashion: Lil' Kim's look

Really Kim? Hired professional for your makeup to only look in the mirror and disapprove?! You TAKE OFF that make up to apply it again yourself, look in the mirror and APPROVE then?! See why I am so upset inside

On the red carpet for BET's Rip The Runway, Lil' Kim made a huge appearance performing "Crush on You" and "Its all about the Benjamins" and "If you love me".

I'm going to be honest, I didn't watch Rip the Runway for my own reasons. As for Kimberly - no hunny this one was a miss for me. You need to get help and I say with love and support. What people fail to realize is that the music industry is a VERY shady industry that will turn normal people with "everyday" concerns and insecurities into individuals we barely know or recognize through straight manipulation and pressure. I don't know what is going on in her personal life so I will give her the benefit of the doubt but bottom line is this: there is no way that the people who love me would allow me to step out looking like crazy Sue in a sparkly dress regardless of day, career, and/or event!

I am still sure that the crowd was thrilled but I think I'm going to retreat and have a 90's night, play some music and reminisce...

*sigh*

Dirty Fashion: Amerie New cut

You may remember Amerie as the woman behind the vocals of the hit song 'One thing' in 2005 or summer jam of 2003 'Why don't we fall in love'. The singer appeared at Ne-yo's Midnight brunch last Friday/Saturday as well as other grammy parties showing off her new hair cut. Last I remembered, she had dyed her hair bleach blond and walked around town with it. Tell me, are you feeling this look?
